Be Like Dylan…

I ran across a great example this week. His name is Dylan Tetil and he is a great example for all of us to think about and maybe even emulate. Dylan is a server at the Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania Eat ‘n Park (some people I know think that should be Park ‘n Eat) restaurant. While there’s nothing wrong about being a server in a fast food restaurant, Dylan showed the world that it is still a place where you can begin to change the world one person at a time.

You see, Dylan simply took the time to stop and chat with a 91 year old customer who didn’t have a lot of people in his life. The elderly man was lonely and this teenage server sensed it and decided to do something about it. Here’s the link to the full story (with pictures).

Dylan’s story has over 100,000 Facebook likes and 30,000 (now 30,001) shares. Not bad for a 5 minute conversation. But let’s not lose sight of the real point. There are a lot of people out there who go unnoticed and only want someone to recognize them and talk with them. I know that I’ve probably missed them in my travels. But, thanks to Dylan, I’m going to try to be more observant and willing to take some time to bring this kind of light into the world. Hope you will too.

Thanks, Dylan, for being such a great example.
