Maybe you’ve heard the song that inspired this blog, “You’ve got to accentuate the positive, Eliminate the negative, Latch on to the affirmative, Don’t mess with Mister In-Between”. The song was written by Johnny Mercer in 1944, but for me the thought still holds true today. I’ve been troubled for a long time by the amount of negativity I see in our world. I started my small battle for positivity by posting a positive quote on Facebook and Twitter most every day. I’ve received a lot of positive comments, but I still felt that something more was needed. I recently attended the Global Leadership Summit and was inspired to begin this blog as my attempt to combat negativity. I hope to be able to encourage and inspire a wider audience in greater depth, maybe with a little humor thrown in…after all laughing at ourselves can be cathartic. I grew up in a world where opinions could be discussed openly. We didn’t always agree, but we were able to listen to the “other side”. Today, we are being fragmented. A differing opinion can lead to a lost friend or even trigger violence. What happened? The ability to listen to both sides is part of what made America a great nation. Now, I think we’re becoming somewhat of a laughingstock to the rest of the world. Everyone seems to be at each other’s throats, where once we all had each other’s backs. So I hope you stick with me on my journey. I’ll try to post frequently and provide you with some fodder that we can discuss and debate. Let me leave you with this little gem for today.
