Football in a different light

As you probably know, the midwest experiences a derecho several weeks ago. What’s a derecho, you ask? It’s a windstorm with 100mph winds capable of doing major damage. One person who experienced a major problem was a paralyzed man from Des Moines, Iowa whose backyard was trashed by 4 giant trees. His sisters called some friends to borrow a chainsaw, but the damage was far too great.

Enter Doug Applegate and 30 members of the local Rough Riders football team. In 3 hours the group had the yard back in shape even repairing the fence. The quote of that day: “That’s just really what people in Iowa do, we help each other out,” Jackson Neary, a HS senior told KCCI News.

In this cynical age where kindness and youth are often not well regarded, this is a story that needs to be heard. Check out more details here: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/hs-football-team-cleans-yard-for-paralyzed-man-after-derecho/ .
